Good Afternoon,

This is my first post on this wonderful forum! Good Work Folks keep it up!!

I was at the sale at Maidstone this weekend organised by the The London & Southern Counties Budgerigar Society and i have to say i was impressed and will support this sale again! Although the number of birds for sale was a little lower than i expected the quality was high and all were well presented. I even got carried away and bought my first pair of budgies since i was a kid the support and information was brilliant i currently keep canaries brits etc but after this weekend that may all be changing :). Were any of you there? i may well have even met or bought my birds off you.

What did others think of this?

Hi the ring No was J9219 i think is there a way i can look up the breeders name as its about the only question i didnt ask i will try and get some pics on here for you boys to run your eye over. I used to keep and breed budgies when i lived at home until i found alcohol and women i have since realised feathered birds are much cheaper to keep and care for :D

Ring Number J2919 is a breeder called Tony Jeffrey from East Sussex Dan, When / If you join the Budgerigar Society you will receive a welcome pack that includes "The official rules & membership list"

I came back into the hobby like you after playing with other BIRDS for a few years and yes this variety is cheaper and less maintenance

Hi Dan I don't breed or show but I would have loved to have gone to the show, shame I didnt know it was on - I only live in the next town.

Welcome to the forum and back to the wonderful hobby of budgies.

I went to the Maidstone show with Dan. Like he says, everyone was friendly and helpful.
I bought my first pair of budgies and just love them. They twitter away at me when I go in the bird room and I can't wait for them to be in condition in the Spring to have babies of their own.
I haven't joined the BS yet but I guess I really should or I won't have rings to ring any babies with.
I keep Zebra Finches, Diamond Doves, Border Canaries, a lone Gloster (needs a girl friend) and just invested in a pair of Bourkes. I also own a pair of Javas but I don't like them much. They are grumpy birds!
I've been told I should really specialise but I like to have a mixed avairy, although I shan't be putting the budgies in with the rest as they'll be naughty!
I was trying to persuade my husband that the whole end of the garden should become avairies and bird room but he's resisting (that and the lack of pennies).
Looking forward to showing them in 2009 ~ might actually have some competition in Dan's birds... :)
