Help please!

Haven't had my budgie long, but having problems with my dog. The cat's don't bother her (was going to put her cage on the wall) they don't go any where near her. Trouble is Barney is so jealous of her. Just have to mention the budgies name and he goes batty jumping up trying to get her. If we let her out of the cage, he goes insane, whining and slavering, he ends up so wet, down his chest. It's not good for him or the budgie.

We have tried letting her out when he is out but have trouble getting her back in. We can get her on our fingers but as soon as we reach her cage door she is off again. We have even tried putting Barney in his cage and covering him but it does no good.

We used to have a budgie years ago and he used to go and sit on the dogs head, so I guess I hoped these would be the same, but I think Barney would eat her given the chance.
Any suggestions please.

I would only let the bird out in the late afternoon ... close to evening time. Put the dog in another room & close the door & make sure the dog stays in the room while the bird is out.

As it grows dark ... don't turn on lights in the room. The budgie will soon fly to the cage & go in on his own. This way your budgie has a couple of hours exercise & free time to enjoy every other day on his own safely.

I don't think your dog is going to be friends with your budgie any time soon.
So don't take the chance.

I had the same problem with my two they were obsessed with my budgie you have got to be firm with the dog,its not aceptable behaviour!!!!! Have the dog on the lead while talking to the budgie and letting her out reward the good behaviour but not the bad
