Cages that would be good are the type with 2-6 food and water containers and multiple doors for nest boxs and a pull olut tray on the bottom for cleaning i just got one with 4 food containers and 3 doors and a pull out tray for €56.80 so they should do good

Sounds ideal Dibby, the easier it is to check on the birds and clean the cage the better, especially when you don't have to upset them too much.

I got it in clare hall dublin kinsealy pet shop they have alot of budgies and reptiles they have an african gray parrot that curses lol:D but i would cut a hole in the cage with wire cutters because if you have 2 pairs in 1 cage and 2 nest boxs they may fight over 1 box so cut a hole in the cage and put on 3 boxs thats the only downer about that cage

so do you suggest I should have two partitions if I have more than one pair in the cage....and keep a nest box in each of sections???

actually I's thinking of building a small aviary/cage of the dimensions
5ft H, 3 ft W, 2 ft D
Do you think I should split it into two if I want to keep more birds with a nest box in the one where I want the breeding pair ... We have an older pair (cock/hen) and we are thinking of getting 2-3 very young (6 weeks) budgies .. I would have thought they could all live in bigger cage as young budgies won't breed ... that's why I was planning on putting one nest box in the cage...
any advise will be appreciated ...
Thanks .. .Amit

my dad is making me an aviaray in the shed just a small one and i was thinking of making a long box with a divider in the middle but i dont think that might work as they might reject it:confused: as they are too close to each other in the box but either way 1 long box or seprate boxs are a good bet in any cage/aviaray.

Amit,
5 ft H x 3ft W x 2ft D (1m50 x 0m90 x 0m60 - sorry I count in meters and not feet) seems like a nice cage/flight. It will probably enough for what you've got at the moment. Just make sure there is sufficient perching place.
I would advise you to put several next boxes in. To avoid fights when the young ones get too curious.
Also keep in mind that you'll need room for the young you'll breed.
Best of luck,
Bert

Bert,
Many thanks for the helpful advise...
I am now thinking (as you advised) I might put my new arrivals (which I have to buy 2 hens, 1 cock all 6weeks old) in the cage I presently have which is as told by the shop owner good for 2-3 of birds...
and give the new cage (5ft, 3ft, 2ft) to the breeding pair with their nest box, so when they breed the young ones can live with them. I'm planning to build a bigger aviary in my garden in the summer next year...then I can get all the birds in the one big place :)
How does this sound?
Thanks all you guys .... you really made me feel welcome :)

as long as their is no draft going at them they will be fine as they dont mind the cold or warm but a draft hot or cold will kill them but i measured my cage and it was 51cm tall and 59cm wide i think it was a bargin and it is not to big for my living room
