Thanks for your coments, l think she should make a good stock hen myself & sorry about the flecking haven't got lots in my flock but some birds have heaps, the light green hen is the worst one l have & yes the sky hen is a bit narrow she's not half as good as brother & sister so here's her replacements -http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/hawke22/YoungBirds10-2006004.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s93/hawke22/AgShow2007011.jpg thats better l hope

Hope these questions are OK in this thread - love all the birds.

yes the dark beak will go away it is only about 32days old.
the flecking will not go away and these birds need to used with care in the breeding cage

Barrie what birds do you use to fix the problem - (flecking) Just clear headed birds or colour, please help!
...Good records Mark. Never pair flecked to flecked or flecked to a clean head that came from a flecked parent..
Pitty the flecking helps the mask and spots too.
I've got a great opaline light green hen thats in the junior flight and she is nearly black.

The bird came from outcross pair & is not related to any of my birds but they came from a breeder who has won at the nationals. Ray Welshman ,so she's going no where fast.

17-05-2007, 04:10 PM
hi mark i would use a dirty headed( and i mean dirty)lightgreen to improve lutinos and a dirty headed grey to improve albinos but they would have to be good.
Any of you guys going for a black Budgie? Is this how they did it?
No I believe that flecking came by way of over improving the spots.. Barrie might be able to add more to the comment.

this must have been luck, when i first started with the birds in 2005 i colony bred 2 pairs in the flight and a heavily flecked cinnamon sky blue hen paired with a flecked opaline grey cock( i did'nt know alot about the faults when i first started),they produced 6 chicks over 2 rounds and only 1 chick was heavily flecked,i then paired one of these chicks (not flecked)to a opaline cinnamon spangle grey this year unfortunately they only raised 1 chick a cinnamon grey cock(NOT FLECKED)must of beenbeginners luck:)

Loving the speckle headed birds, they should be bread into a full line as some people do really like the speckling. I know I do. :D
You should call that line the Beaked Hair-Day Barrie! hehe! :D

Further to this if it is split breeders and pet keepers then my entry in Barries section should be rejected as i am a breeder ! (have asked barrie to cancel my entry) and should not have entered into the pet section then! I will not bother entering any birds to either competition to keep me right.

Ian's Light Green Hen
Nice Hen Ian,just lacks in width and would be better if a bit longer, excellent condition and you should breed some good birds from her, sorry:)

giorgio all birds must be complete in feather and if no tail it must be penalised.
berts skyblue has a beautiful face which catches your eye and is wider than bird number 12 ,but we need tails.
we all see the birds differently and are attracted by certain features.

2nd Position
Berts excellent Cinnamon Grey Hen
excellent hen Bert, she has good head qualitiesnice deep mask with nice big spots, the only thing that stops her from taking the top spot is that she is a bit loose in feather, spraying her abit more would have cured this and tightened up her feathers, well done excellent bird you should breed some beuties off her:)
