I tend to have several extras in my bird cages. A cuttlebone, of course, and also a mineral block. I used to have a mite protector but got out of the habit and haven't had any problems. What kinds of things do you add to your bird's environment to keep him healthy?

Various sized perches would be a good tip for the birds health, you would want different thicknesses and shapes for them to perch on if possible.

I have a ladder for my budgie to offer another size of perch. Also I have cuttlefish.

I usually keep a cuttlebone in there for him, and the various size perches of course. He has a little swinging one that he adores. The biggest thing I can do to keep things healthy is to keep his cage clean at all times. Easier said than done with any bird, I know, but I've just made it a habit in my daily routine and it gives me some fun time to talk to Castor while he watches me work.

I used to add the vitamin drops to the water, but I do not know if that really made any difference. I really like the sandpaper rollers around one of the lower perches because it helps with the nails.

I add different perches, sandpaper on their perches for their nails. I use mineral blocks, vitamins in their water, gravel which I sprinkle in their food for their digestive system. I've used the mite sprays and a bath tub in their cage. A daily bath makes a happy healthy bird.
