How long did you keep?

I know it's easy to get the "Budgie Bug" and want to jump in headfirst. How much experience did you have keeping budgies before you started breeding them?

i dont have budgies a year and im breeding my exp is zero-none you learn as you go along

I had 1 budgie for 2years and decided she needed friends and to be able to fly around so my partner built an aviary last September. I started breeding in March and now have 20 birds -and more on the way.All I did was get books from the library,search the internet and cross my fingers-worked so far.

I had budgies when I was young - and then had a break from them - and now I've had them for quite a few years. I did a lot of research before getting them and had a little bird room built.

The more you find out before you begin then hopefully the less mistakes you'll make along the way. (I stress 'hopefully!).

Spot on Diane,learn first,i bought books and a video at Bath and west bird show a few years back.You have to learn of the different foods to give when the birds hatch.Remember they like a bit of soaked seed,Groats,niger seed,linseed,brown bread soaked in milk.Mine go mad when they see the soaked seed.:) One thought,have you thought where all these new birds are going!.

i was very lucky when i started breeding because my uncle breeded finchs,budgies and canarys so id have dead eggs if it wasnt for him

To be honest with you I jumped straight in without realising what I was doing, glad I did though as i adore my sweeties and wouldn't be without them now xxx
