Firstly I would like to say hello and welcome to this forum. At first when you get your budgie he/she will take a few days to settle so i feel its best not to try handleing the budgie for a good 4-5 days. Talk to your budgie though in a nice soothing voice. After the 5 days or so then you can try bribing your budgie with millet this will make the budgie eat from your hand and hopefully give your budgie the chance to bond with you, your budgie may not eat from your hand for a while as it does take time for them to settle properly. You may find your budgies poop is green at forst too this is due to stress and it will pass afte a few days..any concerns though then please seek advice from a vet. When your budgie is settled then you can try your hand in the cage, at first your budgie will probably flap around because he/she will be a little scared but this is normal abd it will pass, once your budgie stays still whilst your hand is in the cage then you can try placing your finger on your budgies perch again you will need to keep doing this till your budgie doesnt fly away from the perch and when your budgie stays on the perch when your finger is placed near then you can use your finger to gently push up on your budgies tummy and this will either make your budgie step up or if hes stubborn like my Skyla then he wont lol. at first your budgie may jump straight off but if you continue to do this as often as you can then your training may not take that long. Hope I have helped you a little xx
