i have a hen with young chicks and she has lost 2 chicks.she seems to have squashed them,the first was about a week and a half ago at 2 days old .then another chick at again around 2 days old .she has 2 chicks that are coming up for about a week old that are fine?

always keep a large dummy egg in this pair,it could be a young breeding hen or the chicks were weak.

the cock spends alot of time in the box with her,making it really cramped.i have put a dummy egg in there today so will see how it goes.

Totally agree with Barrie. We have a couple of hens who will sit heavy on their babies and we will place a dummy egg in or we will place a white pepple in their with them. It helps.
