can't post pics to gallery

Hmph. I just checked, and the gallery doesn't actually specify what file types are OK. I imagine .jpg, .gif & .png are fine. What software did you use to create the image? When I'm dopey, sometimes I accidentally save things in photoshop as jake.jpg, when I'm actually saving a .pdf. It never works.

Yes, my situation is similar....I tried to upload & attach a picture (bitmap) from my computer to post on here, and was told "file was invalid". Maybe it won't accept bitmap files?:confused:

From the photoplog site:

PhotoPlog is a gallery script for GIF, JPG, and PNG images.

I guess that means it doesn't accept bitmap files. If this is the case, best thing to do it to make another copy of the picture and save it as either (whatevername) .jpg, .gif or .png

I down load pics from camera card via a reader and then they are saved in folder 'My Pictures' I can use Kodac Easy Share software to enhance etc. but then I can get enhanced pics from album. They are all same file type either through photo bucket or direct from PC. Others work it seems to be only Gallery which won't.

Anna is correct, bitmaps are not supported - standard image formats like jpg,gif or png are all that can be used.

There are also restrictions on filesize. So large images can't be uploaded, I'd suggest resizing them to about 1024x768.

It seems I might have sorted it.. I went into photobucket and copied each of the links and eventualy found one that the gallery would accept so I've posted my pics of babies now.. Thanks for advice anyway..

Yeah, in photobucket you just use the last of the 4 links given with each picture, paste it into your post, click post and voila, the picture shows up IN your posts ;) (of course, that's after you've made 15 posts ;))

Hi CM,

Up at the top of the page is a link for the gallery, click on that, choose a category, choose a file to upload, put in a title and description and click on upload. That should do it. If that fails, I put a few links in Ernie's thread (http://www.budgerigars.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=13251) (click the green text) that might help you :)

Ok, lets try this, the pics aren't fab, and I don't know your real name so I put 'for diana' just for the sake of it LOL.

A quick lesson in uploading pics to the gallery ;)

Go to the top of any page, and click on the white link that says Gallery:

Next, look for the green link that says 'Upload' and click on that:

Then you choose a category from the dropdown menu and click on 'Continue':

That will bring you to a page with a lot of blank spaces:

Here's how to add them to your posts once you've got them into your gallery.

First, go to your gallery picture and highlight the code:

Right click once and choose copy:
