A couple of years ago now, I had a young female budgie called Brillo who died. Just before she died, she used to sit on her perch with her eyes closed, her feathers fluffed up and heavy breathing. We took her to the vets but the vet wasn't totally sure what it was. He gave us antibiotics to put in her water bowl but she was dead by the next morning. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? Thanks
RIP Brillo... =(
Dear Sarah,
it is not possible to answer your question. You described symptoms of ill budgie which are common for a lot of diseases. To determine a correct diagnosis of ill budgie is really very complicated.

Thanks Adf
;)
These little ones are very prone to disease, stroke/heart attack, even at very young ages. Very sorry for your loss

It just seemed strange that Brillo was having real difficulty breathing. She was panting, wheezing and her breathing sounded really heavy. I think she might have had some breathing difficutlies that killed her. ;(

I don't think there were any cold drafts... She was in a cage in my bedroom. She had another budgie in the cage aswell but he wasn't affected at all.
