Aww, I'll bet he's loving his new abode! The old cage looks tiny!

LOL, I'll keep my fingers crossed that he doesn't get quite as 'vocal' as bonnie and Clyde with the shrieking thing hahahaha

Good on you for taking him in Nat

Lol Anna, I'm sooooo lucky, he only speaks human! Hes very clingy and I've had trouble getting him off my shoulder so I can have a smoke with my cuppa But he's learning to get off when I say down and fly back when I say come on then. I've a feeling he already knew it all but just a long time ago.
He says hello, nightnight, parrot, come on then, I like, I love, and made an attempt at liverpool last night after Kollyn said it about 100 times! I'm gonna teach him to say Chelsea just to P him off
Hes extreemly unfit and seems to have a bit of a cold as hes was sneezing in the very cold shop and still is, but a bit less now. Hes totally lovely but not a healthy bird in any way
    Thanks for the comments everyone.
    Nat

He didn't cost anything as he was an unwanted bird dumped at my local birdshop
Lol, hes out of the cage permanently Claire, unless of course I'm not at home
I've just managed to get a look at his leg ring and hes not 2 as I was told. He's 11!!!!! Hope he didn't spend 11 years in the horrid cage he came in but by the state of the cage, I've a feeling he might have

God poor bird no wonder he has started plucking! its really hard to get them out of the habit once they have started so I hope he does well with you. There are special toys you can get them to prevent it, so might be worth looking in to them

Just a thought.. and I'm not sure what your veiws are on them but have you thought about training him to wear a harness? I know of somebody who has a galah that plucks, so she takes it out if she knows the bird may have to be alone for a few hours, the bird gets very exited when he see's his harness and has really enjoyed his outings He is a 14 year old rehome, the poor thing was rescued after his owners locked him in the wardrobe for being "too noisy"
He went from a bird who bit and hated humans to coming out to the local park for picnics and sitting on all the children who came over he even goes to bird shows now as an example of what rehomed birds can become!

This is the one she has: (aviator harness) http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...%3Den%26sa%3DN

From experiance the aviator harness is definatly the best, the safest, the most comfortable for the bird and the most popular (after watching and reading about "feather teathers" I wouldn't use them)
That page even has a "bird sitter" dvd for sale haha

Join a parrot forum too, I learned loadddds reading what other owners had to say....
here is a link to one parrot foum, if you scroll dwn they have written a thread on how to stop feather plucking http://www.parrotforum.net/forum/par...y-30-days.html

    I wish you luck!
    Claire.

Great advice Claire, you have obviously done your homework.

What an amazing story, Nat! I hope you have many happy years together - how long do Hahns's live on average? Now he has loads of love and company, hopefully he will get out of the plucking habit. Would love to hear more about how he is adapting to his new home...and more pics!

The average hahns lifespan is about 25-35 years
