Hi everyone,
was just wondering what fruit & veg you give to your budgies and also what is safe for them to eat?
I've started giving my budgie Rocky lettice & carrot and he loves that. I've tried apple but he doesn't seem to like that.
Thanks,
Tammy

Mine only eat veg, won't touch fruit not even a nibble of apple.
They like
sweet corn (on the cob or frozen kernels thawed out)
sometimes grated carrot but the hens prefer to have a whole peeled carrot securely fastened up somewhere to vandalise
spinach
baby pak choi
sprigs of fresh eucalyptus leaves
green carrot tops (seasonal)
anything green
a casserole dish of water with spinach leaves or other green edible leaves - sometimes tempts one of them to bathe.
I can't remember where I saw a list of 'edible' and 'non edible' for budgies but I do recall avocado is a NONO.

Mine also won't try fruit, but he's already crazy about lettuce, broccoli and carrot though.
I guess he'll eat more, he's only one day with me.
Just been reading the threads and realised the list of edibles for budgies I was visualising was the one on our Barrie's site - hope you don't mind if I post it Barrie -

I've done the same but Barrie's will be comprehensive www.lmc1budgies.co.uk
My budgies are being extremely stubborn lol. So far I have tried them with carrot, celery, peas, sweetcorn, cauliflower, kiwi, grapes, brussel sprouts, and today raspberries. The only things they'll eat are grapes which two of them love (out of four) and brussel's which they nibble at. Sooo stubborn lol.
Try grating some carrot, adding sweetcorn and some dry porridge oats and a very small amount of garlic and they may change there minds
Just like children - don't know what's good for them
I try concoctions of dried eggfood with grated veg but they won't go near the dish unless I sprinkle sweet corn kernels on topBit like my kids when they were little, wouldn't eat their cereal without a sprinkle of sugar.

Thanks Joe, I have bookmarked your site too.
I am a porridge eater but use medium oatmeal instead of porridge oats - is it any use using the dry oatmeal in a 'concoction'?

Lovely Joe - thanks for that
I'll make their breakfast tomorrow when I make mine.

carrot, spinach, brocolli, my birds are not fond of fruit.
