When is the actual breeding season for budgies in the UK-without using lighting etc to lengthen the day.Just curious as my birds dont seem interested now-just thought maybe this is the time to rest them-until about Feb. next year.Anyone know?

I have read some where that the breeding season for budgies is from Oct as they are from australia and its summer in australia .... but it seems like that they have now acclimitised to british weather cycles...so may be it will be after feb or march in here

Just wondering how long it lasts really-I have 3 pairs in at the moment but only 1 pair has eggs-1 pair is showing interest in the nest box-the last pair are just sat there-they have been in breeding cages since 1st September. It didn't take this long last time!Dont know why.

I just noticed that one of my hens is also in breeding mood as it happens ... i checked this website and according to it .. my hens cere matches the breding mood which is rough edged dark brown and so does my male budgie's .... but they are not 1 year yet .... and i have two young budgies in the same cage .... shall I try breeding my pair with the other budgies in the same cage or shall I separate them in a breeding cage (which I still have to buy) or shall I just put all of this on hold for few more months ????

    so confusing ....

I have been told not to breed until 1 year+ I have a hen with a really dark brown cere and she is only 5months old(she's one of my babies from March)maybe better to wait until they are at least 10months for a cock,1year for a Hen. And definatley buy a breeding cage-the hens get a bit nasty if another bird goes near the nest box.
