I know there are many of us out there that cannot afford the 20 consultation/Checkup fee for the vet when we know our bird is fine, but all we want is some precautionary mite spotter.

Well it's recently been released in a lower strength form that is available outside of prescription from the vets on Ebay.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=170138197282

(MAKE SURE IT IS THE MITE SPOTTER NOT THE CHEAPER PARASITE MED)

The seller is called Awbirds and regularly stocks this medicine. Search for "Ivermectin Mites" in eBay and it will show the medicine available.

If you feel your bird might have face mites, this is the stuff to get.

    Hope this helps
    .Sophie.

Awbirds is an interesting e-bay shop Sophie!

Here is another on-line supplier for Ivermectin Spot-on. It is Harka-mectin for Racing Pigeon and cage birds in 5ml bottles.

It is caused by mites, so I would treat the lot.

get ivermectin drops 0.1% and give each bird one drop on the back of the neck on the skin.

Personally I would order ivermectin with a known dilultion rate, preferably 0.1% for small birds (as Barrie has said). I got mine on-line from Pharmaq and I believe Barrie has supplied details of the one he uses.

    Thanks for the tip =]
I'm always worried about my birds getting scaley mites after I lost my dear old tweety-pie to it last year.

A good treatment aswel is liquid parafin. Can be bought at chemists for around 3, Very cheap and just dab it around the budgies beak (Try not to get too much in their mouth, It can give them diarrhea) and on their legs and feet, Once a day =]
