A new use for a dog preparation
I am not sure if they are using it in Britain, but a few of the bird fancy in New Zealand are using the following:
Frontline for Dogs:
This is being used very succesfully as a combatant for external parasites and air sac mites. It comes in a spray pump bottle and they hold the bird and give it a squirt under the wings. One enterprising breeder uses the fine piece of micro tube that comes with CRC and has attached that to the bottle. He pushes that through the feathers and gives a squirt direct onto the skin.
Vets say that it has a high safety margin and those using it have had no reported losses. On canary breeder was having trouble with air sac mite in his lizards and said you could hear them puffing. Since using it no more noise and a good breeding season as well.
