Things one can do with bird seed.
- When you change out the seed in your pet budgies' food dish, throw the old seed out for the wild birds. Chances are your birds didn't eat every last seed, and the wild birds will be glad to eat what the picky indoor birds leave behind.
- If there are any bare spots in your yard/garden, toss the old birdseed on them. Many of those seeds are grasses, such as millet and canary grass. Any time the wild birds miss a seed, your yard will benefit.
- Consider actually planting a plot of birdseed, or a plot of pure millet. Your budgies will love the greens. If you plant millet, harvest it the minute it is ripe, or the wild birds will harvest it for you.
